I decided first day of Fall deserves the star of a new Fall quilt. This will be a tiny one approximately 28 inches. I got in the summer time while on vacation. I started cutting out the fabric today and sewing some HST. I will be looking forward to seeing the progress.

I’m making the Tea Kettle quilt by Lori Holt in honour of my mother-in-law who passed away in the Spring. She was the one who taught me to enjoy tea and we shared many a teapot together. I got the kit and my daughter and I went through and chose the pots and handles together. There is 15 to make and I have finished the first one. It went together well and I am looking forward to seeing the variety of pots.

I completed Penguin Party last month for my daughter. She and I are both thrilled with it. She wanted to have the plaid colours alternating and I really like it that way. I started it on a quilt retreat last October on my featherweight. Pattern is by Elizabeth Hartman and quilting was done by Quilt’n Things for you. I bought the pattern and backing at a quilt store after attending my husband’s uncle’s wedding. She has been using it, which is always a great gift for a quilter.
I have been working on the Penguin Party quilt for my daughter. I have some of the Penguins completed and am working on getting the eyes completed for the rest. I started this quilt late last fall at a quilting retreat. I am hoping to get it done for the summer.
My Friday Night Sew-In was spent working on my flying geese for my chevron border of the Botanica Park quilt. This is the last section I need to do and then I can sew the sections together. This quilt will be my main focus for the next couple of weeks. I am happy that I am now seeing the end.
The quilt I have started years ago for my son is now done. I started it at a quilting retreat, put it away and took it out every so often. I finally got to the flying geese border last Fall and took it to the same quilting retreat I go to every year to finish the flying geese. It was completed last week and will now be going with him to college. The pattern is I Wish I May by Border Creek Station. I did have it sent out to be quilted. I tried a fairly new technique for me of using a meandering stitch on my machine to sew done the binding. I really like the effect because it fits in with the quilting. My son is very happy with the quilt.
My Friday Night Sew In was spent starting on some placemats for my Mom for her upcoming birthday. It came as a kit with a diagram on how to cut the shapes and sew back together. I got one of the tops done. I am going to make them first and then trim them to the same size.
I used my Easter weekend -Friday Night Sew In to work on my Simple Whatnots Club -Season 11 from Kim Diehl. This is my first time signing up for the club. Last year I got an individual kit from a previous season and really enjoyed it so I was happy when my LQS was hosting the one this year. I love all the fabrics and I am excited to have small kits to work on and hang up in my quilting room. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.
For Friday Night Sew In I worked on a baby quilt I am making for a friend’s granddaughter. I had a bit more cutting than I had thought so I had to finish that before sewing again. The pattern by Canuck Quilter is one big block which is something I have been wanting to try. Baby quilts are always my favourite to make. There are so many great patterns for them.
I spent my Friday Night Sew-In working on my Alaska rainbow quilt. I bought the fabric kit last year but only had gotten one set of blocks done. I am hoping that my new Singer Featherweight will encourage me to continue working on it. I purchased the fabric kit rather than the pre-cut and after cutting out all the shapes for the block this week, I wished I had bought the pre-cut kit. This will be a quilt for me so there is no rush to get it done.
My daughter made this beautiful quilt for me last Fall. Pink is my favourite colour. Our local quilt store has a Christmas in July sale and all of the fabrics were picked from scrap bins. The back is a soft flannel with hearts and my initial on it. I am so fortunate to have such an amazing daughter. She has fabric ready for a few other quilts she wants to make and it will be great to work together.

I spent my Friday Night Sew In cutting fabric and starting to sew the flying geese for the border of my son’s quilt. I got 20 out of the 160 needed done. Hopefully chain piecing will help this go quickly.
My eyes are seeing stars. I am getting closer to having the I Wish I May quilt finished for my son. Since this photo was taken I have completed the quilt top and am now working on the borders. It would be wonderful to have this done by Christmas.
I used my Friday Night Sew In to iron, trim and remove the paper from my half square triangles. They were the last squares I needed to complete before I can start putting together the quilt for my son. I am thrilled to have reached this point. It has been a long time working on this quilt and I think it deserves a finish soon.
I spent my Friday Night Sew In working on the flying geese and half square triangles for my Botanical Park quilt. I also decided that it was time to get working on the sashing for my son’s quilt. I had been using them as leaders and enders but it was time to get them finished so I could move on with the quilt. I didn’t get them all done but I am much further along.
I finished the zigzag quilt for my sister’s friend three weeks ago. I am so fortunate to have had my daughter help me with the design and placement of fabrics. The zigzag design is one of my favourites. Once I got going it went together quickly but it was a slow start. My sister told me that it was a big hit at the baby shower which made me very happy.

My daughter is making me a quilt and she worked on it today. It is a similar pattern to one that she made a few years ago for herself. Most of the fabric came from a LQS who hosts a Christmas in July usually each year. They have bins of fabrics that you can stuff into bags and these fabrics came from ones that my daughter picked out from those bins. It is great to watch her progress and increased aptitude with quilting. I really like her design eye. She got most of the blocks done today. She is going to lay it out next and see if I want it bigger. I am looking forward to getting to cuddle under this, hopefully soon.
I spent my Friday Night Sew In putting on and starting to hand sew the binding for my Churn Dash and Stars quilt. It has been a long term, work on it when I need a break from another quilt, quilt. I am happy that now it is coming to fruition.
