Christmas is Coming!

Here is my Christmas Block Exchange quilt top finally done. I have a few blocks left over, since I entered the exchange twice. I may use those for a table runner. Christmas is coming and it is nice to have one more project off my list for now.

WIP Christmas

This is my Christmas Block Exchange quilt. It is one of my UFOs for 2012. My son helped me sew the blocks together, and then I have been sewing them into rows. I have one more row to add on and then the quilt top will be complete.  I am really hoping to have most of my UFOs made into tops to end the year in a bang.  My daughter got my Halloween Block Exchange quilt so I am thinking my son may get this one.I am linking to WIP Wednesday, though it is Thursday at The Needle and Thread Network.

Catching Up

Right than writing a whole bunch of posts, I decided to write one to catch up on everything that is been going on. I had a wonderful Christmas. If I ever had doubts that I was a quilter I don't anymore.  It was all I want for Christmas is quilting stuff, and quilting stuff I got. Fabric, scissors, needles, thread, books, pins, glove, new iron, quilt calendar, quilt cards, patterns and chocolate. I can't quilt without chocolate!

I finished my son's Kitty Cat a couple of nights ago at 4:00 am in the morning. It was fun to put it on his bed while he was sleeping. Today he told his sister that she could not be under it because it was his quilt. They always know how to warm my heart.

I did not finish my in-laws table runner. I decided to use some of my sewing machine's decorative stitches on it and one of them went a bit haywire. I ended up taking some of the machine quilting out. However, through the magic of blogging I was able to show them the table runner.It has been fixed, so now I need to put on the binding.

I also started working on this snowman table topper. I had the idea of making it look like a window. I have a stitch that looks somewhat like snowflakes so that is what I used.

Here are the  blocks for 1 of my groups for the Holly Jolly Christmas Block Swap. I am in 2 groups. I like how the present turned out. It just needs to have a border on it and  I have a couple of ideas of what I want to do.

Indulgence

 

I splurged on a milk jelly roll basic from moda. When I figured out the cost of yardage there was very little difference in price. I have lots of ideas on how to use it. One of them is my red/aqua swap that I have completed and mailed.

I did not put it up on my design wall this time because I was definitely afraid I would keep it. I have a great idea for this quilt. I bought a some fabric for the border that I think will work really well with the red and aquas. If not I can always find another use for it.

I would also like to say a big thank you to Ariane. I had originally wanted to make presents for my Christmas block swap but I could not find any patterns large enough. Ariane bought a maple leaf pattern from Piece by Number. I went there to check things as I love paper piecing and I found Christmas presents! I was so excited and now that is the block I am going to be making for the exchange.
