One Word

I have been doing the one word for the year, for the past two years and I have decided to continue this year. I found that my last two words, Myself, and Breathe really helped so I took some time to make a decision. I had it narrowed done to two choices and then made the final decision.

RELAX

I was worried that for 2013 I needed to have a focus, or join a lot of different groups. I decided instead to relax, and enjoy quilting for its many stress free benefits, though it can be stressful at times. I also decided to relax in life as well, and focus on the things that I can do and change, and try to let go of some of the rest. It has been a week and it has been working though nothing is ever perfect.

Cosmetic bag

On a lighter note, I made this cosmetic bag for my niece for Christmas. She absolutely loved it, which surprised me a bit. The bottom fabric was used as the border for the quilt I gave her last year at Christmas. I also need to give a huge thank you to Darlene of Quilting Daze and  Cheryl of Polka Dots & Rick Rack . I participated in the Christmas Throughout the Year, and as well as managing to make 3 scarfs, and a cosmetic bag the week before Christmas, I also got a quilt done, and some smaller projects that I made throughout the year. It all helped to make Christmas less stressful for me. I am linking to Linky Tuesday hosted by Freemotion by the River.

Christmas Through The Year - July

I got my Christmas Through The Year gift for July done in the nick of time. I have been hoarding this snake fabric which I love for a while, and decided it was time to make something with it.This cute container will have some things added to it, and then be given to my nephew. Christmas Through The Year

Christmas Hot Pad

I got my Christmas Through The Year hot pad done on Sunday. I love how it turned out. I used a new to me method of sewing the binding onto the back, then pressing it done in the front and sewing it done with a decorative stitch. I chose the same stitch that I had used for the rest of the quilting and it worked well as it was a flowing stitch rather than a straight stitch. I just had one problem almost right at the end where some of the backing stitch was showing through ; I had not pressed the binding done far enough. It was a tiny section, so I picked it out, redid it and it's done! Now on to the next one! Check out what others have done for Christmas Through The Year!

Christmas Through The Year

Well, thank goodness for the Leap Year. I was able to get my train to stop at the station just in time to get another gift done.

I have been having fun making these small pouches and this one will go to a person who likes pink and flowers. Hopefully, next month's gift will be done a bit sooner. Check out what others have made for Christmas Through The Year at Quilting Daze.

Christmas Through The Year - January

I have a cute finish for my January gift. I made a Barbie doll sleeping bag. It was fun to grab some fabrics and put it all together. I am looking forward to seeing what will inspire me in February. Check out what others have done for Christmas through the Year at Quilting Daze.
