One Thing, One Week Challenge :13

I finally got this quilt all sorted out. I believe this is the longest I have ever had to work on a quilt just to get it organized. All of the blocks are now sewn together in sections and I can now start sewing those sections together. This is one quilt I am not going to give up. Design Wall Monday - May 7

I decided this weekend to focus on my Mountain Mystery. I am so ready to have this quilt over with it. I got all of the blocks sewn and now I am starting to sew them together. I am joining Amy's One Thing, One Week Challenge, and I want to have all of the blocks sewn together for next Monday. I will probably be buying some border fabric so I will be thrilled if the blocks are all together. Check out what others have done for Design Wall Monday at Patchwork Times.

One Thing One Week Challenge : 12

I was able to get my One Thing, One Week Challenge 12 done. I made a hot pad for a Pay It Forward. I had the top done. My challenge was to get it quilted and finished. On Wednesday night at my guild meeting we had  Brenda Sutherland from One Patch at at Time do a trunk show. One of the things she talked about was using your decorative stitches to do some of the quilting. I have done this frequently with the small quilts, household items and totes that I make, but I was not really sure if it was something done a lot. I was happy to have her encourage it, and I used my fancy stitches for the hot pad. My daughter thought I should use it for Easter, but I explained it was for some one else. This has become another one that I want to make for myself.

Grateful

My DQS12 quilt is done, and I am very grateful. It was a long process and a reminder to me of why I stopped swapping. No issues with the swap, just my stress levels at trying to make it as perfect as I can, especially since it is going to another quilter. I can see all of my flaws and issues, and feel as though they will too. I took a photo of the back of the quilt when I was finished, but forgot that I had not yet taken a photo of the front.

I am also grateful to have received this postcard from Leslie of MarveLes Art Studios . It is so beautiful. She does amazing work. A lot of my guild's members have made postcards. While I have dabbled in it a bit, I have never completed one myself.

To keep my motivation going, I am joining Amy's One Week, One Thing Challenge. I have a Pay It Forward that I need to finish. I also need to make some things for my guild's boutique show.

Design Wall Monday - One Week One Thing Challenge 10

I now have the middle section of my Valentine Heart quilt finished. For the middle section, I used my Tri-Recs rulers and found that they worked well. I have been enjoying this, but find it goes a bit slowly. I have quite a few reds, but not enough that I can put any fabric anywhere. I kept the quilt laid out on my ironing board and did a small section at a time. Of course now that I look at it, I can see that I have too much red along the sides. Luckily that can be easily fixed. Along with fixing the mistake, I would like to get the last deep red heart finished.

Here are my completed stars in the second colour way of my Christmas Rose. Now I need to sew the sashing and borders together and it will be complete. Check out what others have done for the One Thing, One Week Challenge.

One Thing, One Week Challenge : 8 Completed

I got my quilt top put together. I really like it. I have a great backing for it and I may attempt to quilt it myself. I am going to leave it for a bit and think about it. This was also my UFO for June, so I am doubly happy to have it done. Check out out finishers on Amy's blog.

Design Wall Monday

This is what is on my design wall this week. It is a wonderful pattern called Unwind by Julie of Jaybird Quilts. She sent me some of her wonderful patterns and I am having fun trying them out. All of the patterns come with templates.I have also been into rulers a lot lately; I find them easier for me than templates so I was happy to add another one to my stash.

I am also going to be participating in Amy's One Thing, One Week Challenge and hope to have this top sewn for next Monday. Check what others have on their design wall at Judy's Patchwork Times.

Bee Catching Up

Here are my Bee Beautiful Blocks for November. Amy wanted Improv Log Cabin. I really enjoyed making these. They will definitely be on my to do list at some point.

This is Sarah's block for the Sew Modern Bee. She designed it herself. It took a while for me to get going on this block until I figured out that making it was the same as paper piecing, except instead we were using fabric as the foundation.

I have signed up for Amy's One Thing, One Week Challenge. Somehow, I missed the last one in December and I was upset about it. I love it for its ability to help me focus on one thing that really needs to get done. This time my challenge is to get caught up in my Bees. I have started on my December block for my Bee Beautiful group and need to do my January block for my Sew Modern group. My month is February for the Sew Modern group and I need to figure out what I want to make. I have a couple of ideas. I just need to figure out which is the simplest for me to organize.

Buzzing Bees

As part of Amy's One Thing, One Week Challenge, I said I would get my bee blocks done. They have been buzzing around me for a bit. I was able to get all 3 of them done.
