Kaleidoscope Quilt

My Kaleidoscope quilt was finished last Fall but I only put on the label today.  Even though I called this "the little quilt that could" it was hard to let go and say it was all done. I had a ruler that I used to cut the wedges and a different pattern I used for the placing of darks and light fabrics. After I had sized my blocks I realized that the ruler and pattern had different dimensions and the blocks would have mismatched points. I ended up redesigning it in EQ6 with the sashing and litle blocks. I also worked on the border as the fabric was bought when the quilt was to be much smaller. This all started from a few fat quarters that my son gave me one Mother's Day. It has become one of my favourite quilts and I keep it on my bed. It reminds me what can be created with hard work and determination.

I like it much better than what it would have originally looked like. It was a true labour of love.

Friday Night Sew In - Stolen Kisses

I spent my Friday Night Sew In finishing up my half square triangles for the Aqua section of my Stolen Kisses quilt. I am finding this quilt a bit slower to do as to make sure I have the pattern correctly I have been sewing each of the colourways before I go on the next one. After this section is done I will have two more to do.

Get A Clue

I have been working on my Nancy Drew quilt for a while now. I attempted earlier this year to lay it out on my floor as I was sewing it. I should have had a "clue" that this was not a good idea as I have three cats. This is the result.

I then put it on my design wall and it worked much better.

I now have all the squares sewn together and I am trying to decide what I would like to use as the border.

Microwave Plate Cozy

My mother asked me to make her a microwave plate cozy. I thought that I would try to enlarge a bowl pattern but then I found a great tutorial by SewWhatYvette. I bought fabric that I knew she would like and made it. The tutorial was very easy to follow. I gave it to her on Mother's Day. She was very happy to receive it. I thought it would be great for me to have as well but of course I have yet to make one for myself

Friday Night Sew In

The Friday Night Sew In became my daughter's which was fine by me. I cut some more strips for her and she worked on getting some more blocks done for a quilt she is working on for herself. Only 10 blocks left to go! I love her fabric style and selection. She has the talent of picking fabrics that look great together. I have learned a lot from her about choosing great fabrics.

Quilt Tops

I have been working on putting together my Churn Dash and Stars quilt. I have the blocks sewn together and now I need to add the borders. I have enjoyed making this quilt. I did struggle a bit because I was trying to make it scrappy I cut the blocks as I went along rather than all at once.

I got the top done for the Pinwheels and Rails quilt a while ago and now I have been working on the borders for it. My daughter decided she wanted it on her bed so I have been adding extra borders to make it bigger. Even though, the small block border was time consuming I am happy that I did it and happy with the way it looks.

Stolen Kisses - Friday Night Sew-In

For Mother's Day, I got this fabric and pattern. It has been a long time since I have made something completely from one collection but when I walked in to my quilting store I was immediately drawn to them both. Years ago, I made a Twister quilt out of the Blush collection by Basic Grey My husband had taken me to the shop to get a gift certificate and I ended up getting it and all of this fabric.

I spent the Friday Night Sew-In starting to sew all of the half square triangles. There are six group of colours and the first thing to be done is to get them sorted and then sewn in the half square triangles. I worked on some more yesterday and day so I probably have about half of them done now. It is fun to work on a project where all you need to do is sew.
