Design Wall Monday - Pinky Owl

Pinky Owl

I hope everyone had a great International Quilting Day. I spent some time this weekend working on this quilt. It is Hootenanny by Boo Davis. It is a great scrap quilt. I had more than enough pinks in my stash, and the brown background I bought on sale. I really enjoyed making the Hot Dog quilt I made using her pattern and this one is just as fun.

Cable Socks - Off My Needles

Cable Socks

 Cable Socks

I am so thrilled! My cable socks are finished! They were very easy to make and I love how they look. They are quite warm, and luckly or not so luckly, there is still lots of time to wear them with the winter we are having. I have to say I have become quite addicted to making socks. They are so easy to take anywhere, fast to do and feel great to wear. I have a couple more skeins of yarns ready to go and I am eager to find my next pattern.

Happy 5th Blogiversary!

Today is my 5th blogging anniversary! I can't believe it has been 5 years! I have learned so much and been inspired so much. I have done so many swaps, quiltalongs, giveaways, joined UFO challenges, made quilts, tried new sewing items and learned to knit socks. At some point I should add it all up. It has been an amazing time and I am so happy to have you with me on my journey.

My Three of Hearts

Every year I try new challenges and for the month of February I joined Drop and Give Me Twenty! I committed to quilting 20 minutes a day for the month of February. It was very motivating to me and I got 3 quilt tops done that been hanging around for a long time. One of them was my My Three of Hearts quilt. I took it to my quilting retreat last November and it is so nice to know that I will have it done for the next retreat.

I am looking forward to the next 5 years and all it will bring!

Design Wall Monday - Coming Along

 Woodland Trails

I have all of the rows done now for my Woodland Trails quilt using the pattern Northern Lights by Jaybird Quilts, except for one row which has gone mysteriously missing. I am so happy with this quilt, and that what I have created is better than I had envisioned.  I am excited to get this sewn together, and then the scary part will come when I have to cut along the sides to make it rectangular.

On The Needles

I got my sock problem figured out. I went back to the store where I got my sock yarn and the woman who works there told me that yes, socks can take more than one ball to make.

I bought another ball, and then couldn't resist buying another 3 balls of the same yarn in a very pretty colourway. I am back to knitting again and it will be perfect to do while watching the Olympics!

Design Wall Monday - Northern Lights

Northern Lights

So far, my Drop and Give me Twenty has been going quite well. It is keeping me focused on my quilting. I have been surprised at how much can get done in a small time period. It is wonderful to see this quilt come together. Once I started, I realized that I have enough hexagons and fabric left over to make a second one,  though it will be slightly different.

Drop and Give Me Twenty

I have decided to join the Drop and Give Me Twenty hosted by Quilting Hottie Haven.  For the month of February, I am committing to quilting for 20 minutes each day. I have been good at getting projects done lately, or small items made, but I have not made much time for quilting. This will be a good exercise for me.

 Ready to go!

The project I am going to be working on is a quilt that I hope to have done for June. The fabric is cut and ready to go. I am really looking forward to seeing how well 20 minutes works. I may need to use it for other facets of my life.
