Finish it Up Friday and On The Needles

Winter time always makes me want to knit and crochet. Suddenly now, I have a few projects on the go, much like quilting.

I have the first sock done now except for darning in the ends.

I started crocheting this scarf this week.It is yarn that I bought last year at this time. It crochets really fast.

I also started and finished this Sashay scarf this week.

I also started another one. My mother-in-law made me one for me, and I decided I want to make one. It is easier than I thought. This Youtube video from Red Heart Yarns really helped.

Hopefully, these will get done over the winter, otherwise I will have to do a UFO challenge for knitters and crocheters. Check out what others have  On The Needles at Patchwork Times and Finish it Up Friday at Crazy Mom Quilts.

Binding

Nothing on my design wall today. I am just  trying to figure out how many projects I can squeeze to a finish before the 25th.

I started working on the binding for my Chopsticks quilt early this morning. I decided to machine bind it. I have done it a couple of times with smaller wall hangings, but decided to see if there other methods out there in quilting land. I found this tutorial by  Rachel of Stitched in Color who uses a zigzag stitch to keep it together. I liked the look of it so decided to use it on this quilt. It is going well so far.

Thank you very much for all of the tips on basting for my Quilter's Gallery Blog Hop Party with Giveaways. The winner is #1 Terry.

Design Wall Monday - Zigzag

 Zigzag

This quilt can now be finally off of my Design Wall. I finished the top this weekend. I had it on my Design Wall for so long, and eventually I needed the space so I took it off the wall, earlier this year. I was not sure it it was ever going to get finished. My daughter was quite impressed when I told her that I had designed the quilt myself. She told me that it was really cool that no one else would have the same quilt and that she wanted to buy it. She offered me 25 cents, and then told me that her final offer was 45 cents. She is such a sweetie. Check out what others have going on at Design Wall Monday at Patchwork Times.

Here is taken out of the package. Backing is included in the kit. I wish I had bought one for myself.

To enter, I would like to have you help me with some basting tips. It is my least favourite part of quilting. If you don't have a basting tip, any quilting tip would be helpful. I am also curious to find out how you decide on you choose your quilting designs for the quilt.

The winner will be chosen randomly and you must have a way for me to contact you. I will leave the giveaway open until December 17 at 8:00 PM EST and I will ship internationally. Good luck with this and the other giveaways at the Quilter's Gallery.

Christmas is Coming!

Here is my Christmas Block Exchange quilt top finally done. I have a few blocks left over, since I entered the exchange twice. I may use those for a table runner. Christmas is coming and it is nice to have one more project off my list for now.

The winner of my Sew Mama Sew Giveaway is Rachel. Thank you to all those you entered with wonderful ways of enjoying and not so enjoying the cold.

WIP Christmas

This is my Christmas Block Exchange quilt. It is one of my UFOs for 2012. My son helped me sew the blocks together, and then I have been sewing them into rows. I have one more row to add on and then the quilt top will be complete.  I am really hoping to have most of my UFOs made into tops to end the year in a bang.  My daughter got my Halloween Block Exchange quilt so I am thinking my son may get this one.I am linking to WIP Wednesday, though it is Thursday at The Needle and Thread Network.
