Silver Lining

The Silver Lining quilt is complete and I am so thrilled. It was started in March just before everything shut down and it got caught up in all of the stress and anxiety of the year. This is a gift for my sister-in-law and brother-in law's 25th anniversary. They live far away so I need to organize a way to mail it to them. I hoped I would be able to give it them at Christmas but it was not to be. I have tried to find a silver lining for 2020 and for me it would be my remarkable husband and children. We all got along over our months at home alone together and supported each other throughout the good and bad days.   Here is hoping to a safe and healthy 2021 where we will be able to be together with friends and family again.

Tannenbaum

I am so happy that I was able to get my Tannenbaum quilt finished before Christmas.  I learned a lot from making it and I know it will be a keepsake that I put up each year. Christmas may have been quiet for many people this year, but I hope it was still a good one for you.

Merry and Bright

My Merry and Bright quilt is finished. I had it quilted in the Spring but then set it aside to work on some other projects. I put the binding on it in the Fall. I had bought this fabric years ago as a kit to make another quilt pattern based on one block. I ended up making that block in an exchange and realized while I liked the look of it I did not really enjoy making it. A few years ago at a retreat I attended, someone was making the Charm Big Star pattern by Missouri Star Quilt Company using Christmas fabrics. I really liked it and decided to make a version for myself. The fabric showcases a lot of snowflakes so I wanted to find a snowflake pattern that I could use as the focus block. I found wonderful snowflake paper piecing patterns from Canuck Quilter Designs. I was also able to find a fabulous flannel red snowflake fabric for the binding.  I am thrilled that this quilt is done. It will be wonderful to cuddle under it and watch a movie or read a book.

Tannenbaum

I got the quilt top done last Monday. I am thrilled with it. The directions were easy to follow and the colours are gorgeous. I was nervous about using the lined backing but I do like the look of it.  I was also a bit nervous about the appliqué but having it already cut out made it so much easier. I do have some projects that need appliqué and I am anxious to get started on them after the holidays. I took this to a new quilter to me on Wednesday and I picked it up on Saturday. She did beautiful work. Now, I need to hurry and get the binding sewn on. I would love to have this up before Christmas.
