Merry and Bright

My Merry and Bright quilt is finished. I had it quilted in the Spring but then set it aside to work on some other projects. I put the binding on it in the Fall. I had bought this fabric years ago as a kit to make another quilt pattern based on one block. I ended up making that block in an exchange and realized while I liked the look of it I did not really enjoy making it. A few years ago at a retreat I attended, someone was making the Charm Big Star pattern by Missouri Star Quilt Company using Christmas fabrics. I really liked it and decided to make a version for myself. The fabric showcases a lot of snowflakes so I wanted to find a snowflake pattern that I could use as the focus block. I found wonderful snowflake paper piecing patterns from Canuck Quilter Designs. I was also able to find a fabulous flannel red snowflake fabric for the binding.  I am thrilled that this quilt is done. It will be wonderful to cuddle under it and watch a movie or read a book.

Tannenbaum

I got the quilt top done last Monday. I am thrilled with it. The directions were easy to follow and the colours are gorgeous. I was nervous about using the lined backing but I do like the look of it.  I was also a bit nervous about the appliqué but having it already cut out made it so much easier. I do have some projects that need appliqué and I am anxious to get started on them after the holidays. I took this to a new quilter to me on Wednesday and I picked it up on Saturday. She did beautiful work. Now, I need to hurry and get the binding sewn on. I would love to have this up before Christmas.

Tannenbaum

I am now on my last row of the Tannenbaum quilt. The applique has gone easier than I thought, especially since the applique pieces were already cut out. After this I will be matching up the lines in the background fabric which I am a bit nervous about. I am dedicated to having this done by Christmas.

Tannenbaum Stars

I spent my Friday Night Sew-In working on my Tannenbaum quilt creating a row of stars. I am on the second to last row of the tree but then I will need to do the applique.

I am really hoping to have this done by Christmas. It has been a while since I have sewn such tiny pieces but I am enjoying the challenge it brings me.

There is a Silver Lining

I am so happy that my Silver Lining quilt top is completed. I finished it last week and now it is at the quilter's. It was a huge relief to have this off my shoulders and now I can work on some of my Christmas quilts and other quilts I want to get done.

Cat not included - Friday Night Sew In

For my Friday night Sew In I finished sewing together all of my sashing strips for my Silver Lining quilt. Next is to put together the corner blocks and then I can sew it all together. My ever helpful cat decided to pose for this photo, and after it was taken destroy the layout. It did get cleaned up faster with her help since it was in a big pile!

Silver Lining

I have all of my rows sewn together now and I have started sewing the sashing sections together. This is a quilt that I wanted to give up on a few times. I am so happy that I chose to stick it out as I can see the finish line in the near distance.
