Flying Geese - Friday Night Sew In

I got most of my flying geese done last night for my Autumn Moon quilt. I have the top together now, and just need to put on the borders. I would love to be a flying geese right now; to find a cooler place to be. I also worked on the binding for the quilt my daughter made. I find that if it feels to hot to be outside, quilting inside is a wonderful thing to do!

Autumn Moons

I have my blocks all finished now for my Autumn Moons quilt. I am still thinking of moving a block around, or maybe making an extra one.  My blocks are a bit bigger than the pattern, so I made the sashing a bit wider around the Maple Leaves. I am drawn to these colours, much as I am the rainbow colours. I saw the Quilt of Belonging on the weekend and it was amazing. I had seen photos of it before, but they definitely did not do it justice. It is a work of art and a testament to the amazing creativity of quilters.

Autumn leaves appreciation

My autumn leaves are almost done for my Autumn Moons quilt.I need to put a frame around the last one. This is another scrap appreciation quilt.

It has been great putting a quilt together that I don't need to agonize over picking out fabric. I keep finding treasures in my closet that work with this quilt. I can't wait to get it set out on my floor. My goal with these quilts is to appreciate everything I do have.

Scrap Appreciation

As the years of quilting accumulate I must say that I appreciate the scrap quilt more and more. Years of quilting also means years of accumulating fabrics. It is so nice to see a quilt you want to make and be able to start it right away because you already have all of the fabrics. This will become an autumn quilt and I am so excited to have started it. It is one that I have been wanting to make for a long time. The one block is actually gold and purple and I love the idea of having purple in the quilt. A nice, easy and stress free quilt is what I need right now.

Autumn Blocks - Friday Night Sew-In

For my Friday Night Sew-In I finished up the last of the little blocks I need to complete my leaf blocks and start putting my Autumn Moons quilt together.

I also started to organize for my daughter's next quilt. We had filed away the pattern she wanted to use, and I found it this week. Her fabric has been chosen and now I get to start cutting it, which I dislike, but love the final results. This will be her seventh quilt. She is becoming an amazing quilter!

Picnic

My Picnic quilt top is now finished and off to the quilter's. With a little nudging from my dh, I got the backing put together and got it sent off. I have never worked with blues and oranges before. That is one of the things that I love about quilting - you get to work with so many different colour combinations that you might not choose. I have lots of scraps left over, and would love to many another quilt using those colours. As always, I know I am going to enjoy the quilt more once I see the the quilting. As always too, I know it will be a hard quilt to give it away, but it will be going to my wonderful niece as a graduation gift. The years fly by so quickly. I can remember when she was a toddler following me around. The love continues to grow.
