Teacher Gifts
I enjoyed making my first zippered pouch so much, that I decided to make the longer size and give them as teacher gifts. I put a set of pens in, and voila they became pencil cases.
My children picked out the fabrics they wanted. They decided that a Christmas theme would be great for them. Knowing my daughter, I will be making a few of these for her over the holidays.

WIP Wednesday Glimpses
These are glimpses of what I have been working on.
This scarf is for my nephew. The pattern works up quickly but it is wider than I would like it, though my dh says it looks great. I have a book of crochet stitches, and I chose one that did not seem too feminine for him.
I am also working on my UFO report for 2011 and what I will be working on for 2012. I am having some time off after Christmas so I still have some hope of getting further along with a few of my UFOs. Check out what others have done for WIP Wednesday at The Needle and Thread Network.

Drumroll please ....
My winners have been chosen for my giveaways. For my Sew Mama Sew giveaway #11 -Anita was the winner, and for my Blog Hop Party #48 - Jennifer Gail was the winner.
I did get some Friday Night Sewing done. Here is my first pouch all finished.
It is the first time I have ever made anything with a zipper and I spent quite some time zipping it open and close. I was quite impressed with myself.
I also worked on my Twister quilt and what I thought would happen did. My daughter fell in love with it (wrinkles and all), and made a deal with me. If I was willing to give her that quilt, plus make a new Butterfly Blooms quilt for her, she would "let" me give the other Butterfly Blooms quilt to her cousin. Deal struck and sold! I am happy that she still thinks my quilting is great and wonderful. She also told me she liked it the way it is and did not want to use the Twister on it. I will give her some time to think about that.

Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day
The giveaways keep on coming here! Today I am participating in the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day.
I am giving away a half metre roll of a variety of blue 2 1/2 inch strips and a stitchery pattern. To enter, please let me know one of your favourite literary characters, or book. One of my favourites is Nancy Drew. I think of her as strong, kind and who with the help of her friends can accomplish anything and solve most mysteries. Her personality reminds me of a lot of quilters! I must be able to contact you, so if you are a no-reply blogger you will not be able to win. The giveaway will remain open until December 16 at 8:00 PM EST. Winner will be chosen randomly.

Friday Night Sew-In
I ended up working on 2 projects. The first one is one of my UFO's for the year. I sewed some of the rows together, and then noticed some of my seams on one row were a bit off, so I decided that meant I was done for the evening.
I also worked the backing for another one of my UFO's. It is one of the first pieced backings I have worked on. The quilt is from my red/aqua disappearing 9 patch swap. I decided I wanted the quilt to have a border so I had some left over 9 patch squares which I sewed in a row. Now I just need to sew the backing pieces together. I hope you all had a good Friday Night Sew-In.
