Cool in June

Well, I finally got around to finishing the binding on my Snowmen quilt. I am calling it Winter Wonderland. I have to say it is one of my favourites. I love blue and red in a quilt together and snowmen are one of my favourite things. So much so, that I finished the binding on this quilt before I have even finished my spring quilt which needs binding. It is nice to have it finished. I still use quilts in the summer and I will be definitely snuggling up under this one.  Tammy did the quilting for me and I love how she added the snowflakes.

Hope you are staying cool!

Vermont

I went to the Vermont Quilt Festival on the weekend and it was amazing. There were so many incredible quilts and so many talented quilters. I went on a bus trip and my dh came along as the token male. He has a wonderful appreciation for quilts so most of our time was spent looking at them. I had a specific wish list of things I wanted to get and ended up finding all of them except for one.

This quilt was made as a wedding gift by Ginny Kottkamp. It reminded me of the crumb squares I have been seeing lately.

This quilt is called A Passion for Pinwheels made by Nina Klinck. I really love her use of the pinwheels in the borders.

This is Scrappy Dresden Medallion made by Sharon Snyder. I love anything with Dresden Plates!

This is what I bought at the show. I had seen some Twister quilts so now I can make one myself. I also needed some yellow, orange, purples to finish off my nine patch quilt. I had heard good things about fork pins so I wanted to try them and the bobbin holder was something that I was curious about and it was the best price I had seen. I got some cute magnets including one that says Canadian Quilter.

These items are the things I won on the bus trip. We were able to bring on the bus trip items that we no longer needed and exchange them for tickets. We could also buy more tickets. On the way down we had draws for the items that had been donated, and with the money from the tickets our organizer bought items at the show which were drawn for on the way back. It was a lot of fun and going to quilt shows always inspires me. Bring on the summertime quilting!

One Thing, One Week Challenge : 8 Completed

I got my quilt top put together. I really like it. I have a great backing for it and I may attempt to quilt it myself. I am going to leave it for a bit and think about it. This was also my UFO for June, so I am doubly happy to have it done. Check out out finishers on Amy's blog.

Design Wall Monday

This is what is on my design wall this week. It is a wonderful pattern called Unwind by Julie of Jaybird Quilts. She sent me some of her wonderful patterns and I am having fun trying them out. All of the patterns come with templates.I have also been into rulers a lot lately; I find them easier for me than templates so I was happy to add another one to my stash.

I am also going to be participating in Amy's One Thing, One Week Challenge and hope to have this top sewn for next Monday. Check what others have on their design wall at Judy's Patchwork Times.

May/June UFOs

I did not get UFO #9 finished. After this photo was taken I did get some more sewing on it done. I have decided that I like it so much that I am going to be making it bigger. I am going to a quilt show in a few weeks so I will be looking for some more fabric to go with it.

UFO #8 is my Cameo quilt. I only had one block done on this quilt. After looking at it some more I decided that I did not like my fabric selections for it, so I decided to find another pattern to use the fabric I do have rather than buy more. I picked a pattern and have about half the blocks done. This is definitely doable by the end of June. Check out others who did get a finish at Patchwork Times.
