These are the fabrics I have for the quilt. The pattern calls for 11 light and 11 dark fat quarters. I have darks, medium darks, medium lights and lights. What I am wondering is if I should try to get more of the creams, or can I use some of the light blues and greens? I also found a quilt on flickr made using the same pattern that mixes some of the medium and dark colours. Any advice given is greatly appreciated. These fabrics have been screaming at me lately to be a quilt. If I did not have a couple of upcoming deadlines, I would do them right away.

I think it fine to use your light greens and blues. You just have to make sure that there is enough contrast between your lighter fabric and your dark fabric. So you will need darker fabrics paired up with your greens and blues.
I love your pile of fabrics. I think if you have enough quantity in this pile, then do like Ariane suggested. I would pair the pale blue with dark green or brown and pale green with the medium blue. You can also try pairing the medium green/blues with the creams. Contrast is key. Or you might like your squares to blend a bit. From the look of the pattern, the smaller trail of diagonal squares also plays a key role in the design. You could try to make them 'read' all the same. I would definitely use the light blues & greens. You'll get a more blended effect (I think more appropriate for your lovely fabrics). I wouldn't even worry much about the contrasts, as long as you lay out ALL the blocks before assembly and make sure you balance the light/dark evenly.

Yummmmmy fabrics...I'm on board with the contrast comments. Just watch for that in the layout and you'll be fine!
