These are the fabrics I have for the quilt. The pattern calls for 11 light and 11 dark fat quarters. I have darks, medium darks, medium lights and lights. What I am wondering is if I should try to get more of the creams, or can I use some of the light blues and greens? I also found a quilt on flickr made using the same pattern that mixes some of the medium and dark colours. Any advice given is greatly appreciated. These fabrics have been screaming at me lately to be a quilt. If I did not have a couple of upcoming deadlines, I would do them right away.

Sister's quilt
Thank you for the great advice about the Halloween quilt. You are all so helpful, so I am going to ask you for more advice. One of my Spring to Finish challenges is to figure out what quilt pattern I want to make for my sister. I think I have that figured out now. It is called Fall Frolic and it is from the 40 Fabulous Quick Cut Quilts book by Evelyn Sloppy. Nicole has a picture of the pattern on her blog.

i think using the light greens and blues would be fabulous. lovely assortment of fabric you have there. lucky sister
I think it fine to use your light greens and blues. You just have to make sure that there is enough contrast between your lighter fabric and your dark fabric. So you will need darker fabrics paired up with your greens and blues.
I love your pile of fabrics. I think if you have enough quantity in this pile, then do like Ariane suggested. I would pair the pale blue with dark green or brown and pale green with the medium blue. You can also try pairing the medium green/blues with the creams. Contrast is key. Or you might like your squares to blend a bit. From the look of the pattern, the smaller trail of diagonal squares also plays a key role in the design. You could try to make them 'read' all the same. Have fun - you have a great selection to play with! Please share your finish!!
I would definitely use the light blues & greens. You'll get a more blended effect (I think more appropriate for your lovely fabrics). I wouldn't even worry much about the contrasts, as long as you lay out ALL the blocks before assembly and make sure you balance the light/dark evenly.

I love your fabrics....but no advice...sorry.
Yummmmmy fabrics...I'm on board with the contrast comments. Just watch for that in the layout and you'll be fine!
i think you can use light blues and greens... it'll give it a nice scrappy look!!
I think you have plenty of contrast for that pattern. Can't wait to see it finished!
