Trying to Knit Sunshine

We've had had a lot of gloomy days lately, so I have been spending more time lately working on these socks. The colours are so bright and beautiful, that it makes one hope that Spring will soon be here. After these one are done, I think I will go back to something with more of a pattern. Sock knitting can be very addictive and I am glad I have that addiction!

Snowballs keep things rolling - WIP Wednesday

These snowballs seem to be addictive. They are fast to make, look prettier and aren't as cold as the real thing. I like the fact that finally the quilt seems to be moving along, and how all the work I put into the nine patches is now paying off.

The snowballs have also gotten me rolling on some other projects. I started on me Be attitudes quilt. I have the first background block done. When I was looking for the fabric for it, I found this spring time quilt kit that I had completey forgotten about.

I made the first block in it as well, and it is definitely one of the smaller blocks I have done. I am back to having lots of projects on the go, and I must say I am enjoying it.

Ready for Spring! - Star Garden

Star Garden

Yes, we still have snow on the ground, but I am ready for Spring, even though I am still making snowballs.  This quilt is for a friend who recently became a grandmother for the second time with her first granddaughter. My friend has the biggest green thumb I know. The plants and flowers she grows are amazing! It is definitely a talent I wish I had. This was so fun and fast to make, the pattern is Moda Love. I love tried something different as a background colour. That's the great thing about quilting. You can always keep it fresh! I had a hard time deciding what to name it and ended up deciding to call it Star Garden.

Snowballs & Nine-Patches

Nine Patch and Snowballs

It feels as though life as come full circle. Years ago, I babysat for a woman who was taking a beginner's quilting class. She had to make many snowball blocks. It was my first experience with quilting, and I ended up starting it a few years later, and never looked back. (Okay maybe once or twice when a quilt wasn't working out.  A few years ago I was in a nine patch quilt along. I got quite a few done, but then got tired of doing them and stopped. I pulled them out again this year, when I saw that Terry was making a nine patch and snowball quilt along. Determined to try again I pulled out the blocks and started making snowballs. There's still lots of snow here for me to make them! I really like them, and have the motivation to start again. The quilting world is such a wonderful world for help and support.
