I have some of the Penguins completed and am working on getting the eyes completed for the rest. I started this quilt late last fall at a quilting retreat. I started it at a quilting retreat, put it away and took it out every so often. I finally got to the flying geese border last Fall and took it to the same quilting retreat I go to every year to finish the flying geese. It was completed last week and will now be going with him to college. The pattern is I Wish I May by Border Creek Station. I did have it sent out to be quilted. I tried a fairly new technique for me of using a meandering stitch on my machine to sew done the binding. I really like the effect because it fits in with the quilting. My son is very happy with the quilt. </p>Dresden Quilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14271910749619198419noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8012524790682959020.post-45169634773925511222022-05-22T14:51:00.002-04:002022-05-22T14:51:46.198-04:00Friday Night Sew In -Placemats<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWvBzXyaqRqsckkRtEbaiAtKHiIA3SqSzYO0GVJ-jaoa3TV_NXS88mUwY53dfz_bNBAYcF3lDU16lCX7YEXzAZWasMfh5F3RUgZHx7zsg3tp3P_WrhiZUcVXWiKYV_H5OaNB57oN4VDMiX82d0gK5wVTsWYuxyngavjcNVQenPL9UeN1V17GCxyErP2A/s3264/07818B85-6E42-40DE-B9CF-C9A12104471C.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2448" data-original-width="3264" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWvBzXyaqRqsckkRtEbaiAtKHiIA3SqSzYO0GVJ-jaoa3TV_NXS88mUwY53dfz_bNBAYcF3lDU16lCX7YEXzAZWasMfh5F3RUgZHx7zsg3tp3P_WrhiZUcVXWiKYV_H5OaNB57oN4VDMiX82d0gK5wVTsWYuxyngavjcNVQenPL9UeN1V17GCxyErP2A/s320/07818B85-6E42-40DE-B9CF-C9A12104471C.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br /></div><p><br /></p><p>My Friday Night Sew In was spent starting on some placemats for my Mom for her upcoming birthday. She has fabric ready for a few other quilts she wants to make and it will be great to work together. </p><p>Linking to <a href="https://www.kathleenmcmusing.com/2022/01/unicorns-outside-my-window-tgiff.html" target="_blank">TGIFF</a> <br /></p><p></p>Dresden Quilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14271910749619198419noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8012524790682959020.post-37624353842372354502021-11-20T20:03:00.005-05:002021-11-20T20:03:49.832-05:00Flying Geese - Friday Night Sew In <p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUtPzpl8CO1AGCmPCEk7JoKl8ghqZKLXHziBecBtp7vJfiIXDFImM_ZWIT-feW4JEQHMcLFgySQqE-oWMOvpeYay3Zg5Hz6eV47MV0wEu9c2EaPo0paWtS5p4TfEU0g24XNr0OdtGi7QWS/s2048/061A8A82-D1E1-4E14-A3CF-E24326772D7A.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUtPzpl8CO1AGCmPCEk7JoKl8ghqZKLXHziBecBtp7vJfiIXDFImM_ZWIT-feW4JEQHMcLFgySQqE-oWMOvpeYay3Zg5Hz6eV47MV0wEu9c2EaPo0paWtS5p4TfEU0g24XNr0OdtGi7QWS/s320/061A8A82-D1E1-4E14-A3CF-E24326772D7A.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>I spent my <a href="https://www.sugarlane-designs.com/2021/11/october-winners-november-fnsi-sign-ups.html">Friday Night Sew In</a> cutting fabric and starting to sew the flying geese for the border of my son’s quilt. It is a similar pattern to one that she made a few years ago for herself. Most of the fabric came from a LQS who hosts a Christmas in July usually each year. They have bins of fabrics that you can stuff into bags and these fabrics came from ones that my daughter picked out from those bins. It is great to watch her progress and increased aptitude with quilting. I really like her design eye. She got most of the blocks done today. She is going to lay it out next and see if I want it bigger. I am looking forward to getting to cuddle under this, hopefully soon.</p><p><br /></p><p><a href="https://smallquiltsanddollquilts.blogspot.com/2021/07/design-wall-monday-july-19-2021.html" target="_blank">Linking to Design Wall Monday.</a><br /></p>Dresden Quilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14271910749619198419noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8012524790682959020.post-28420944391046680592021-07-17T13:32:00.001-04:002021-07-17T13:32:37.462-04:00 Friday Night Sew In - Churn Dash and Stars<p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyIPvdYP-MdLl5qCzYUf6pSv8DxhfjgX8HeuOD4twg7v_kwoBY8Td9aU5k_ezz5YkpcyAfjrk_Y4mP3YZrhXv02JkWq8epQ15NRHo8r9WxqQbXpDOMbGbJy6Au7T3yHb9NzZSpBDeT5p0j/s640/9DA6A10E-A632-4FE5-9189-1618CDE0E9F1.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="640" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyIPvdYP-MdLl5qCzYUf6pSv8DxhfjgX8HeuOD4twg7v_kwoBY8Td9aU5k_ezz5YkpcyAfjrk_Y4mP3YZrhXv02JkWq8epQ15NRHo8r9WxqQbXpDOMbGbJy6Au7T3yHb9NzZSpBDeT5p0j/w400-h300/9DA6A10E-A632-4FE5-9189-1618CDE0E9F1.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p> I spent my <a href="https://www.sugarlane-designs.com/2021/07/sign-ups-for-julyalready.html" target="_blank">Friday Night Sew In</a> putting on and starting to hand sew the binding for my Churn Dash and Stars quilt. I now only have a blue block left to do. I am not sure why, but sometimes quilts speak loudly to me and this one is tell me it is time to get it finished this year. It is a bed size quilt for my daughter. She looked at some patterns and then designed this quilt. She decided to have the border of the pinwheels go the opposite way of the rail fences so that it mimicked a rail fence quilt which I really liked. She made the decisions on all of the borders. The outer border fabric was bought at our quilt guild. Someone was selling off metres of fabric and my daughter picked it out a few years ago. I was having a tough time deciding on the fabric for the last border and then she remembered this fabric and it fit perfectly. Our cats really like this quilt and have claimed it as theirs which my daughter does not mind since they share it with her!</p><p><br /></p><p>Linking to <a href="https://confessionsofafabricaddict.blogspot.com/2021/01/can-i-get-whoop-whoop-quilting-is-best.html" target="_blank">Can I Get A Whoop, Whoop</a>.<br /></p>Dresden Quilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14271910749619198419noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8012524790682959020.post-63359004718460315492021-01-05T07:30:00.001-05:002021-01-05T07:30:10.012-05:00Kitchen Sewing<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFeSJ5Ki8sgwcdeyj0zZnLvujAr8WUrJCpaOMpWCnrKk4l9bugXUt99i849sIfkakqXKe9rIB8DNX3_QpNl06YKlYG1jZxxIXmstshgLfsYrmsOWFLBWfL5cjb-fP4PTjUGpKrWus0Fw7J/s640/Cover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="603" data-original-width="640" height="378" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFeSJ5Ki8sgwcdeyj0zZnLvujAr8WUrJCpaOMpWCnrKk4l9bugXUt99i849sIfkakqXKe9rIB8DNX3_QpNl06YKlYG1jZxxIXmstshgLfsYrmsOWFLBWfL5cjb-fP4PTjUGpKrWus0Fw7J/w400-h378/Cover.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p>One of my first projects for 2021 was completed on the weekend. My mother asked me to make her a cover for her Kitchenaid stand mixer. She wanted the same fabric that I had used as the backing for the <a href="https://dresdenquilter.blogspot.com/2020/06/spring-table-runner.html" target="_blank">tablerunner </a>I had made for her in the Spring. I used a<a href="https://www.sewcanshe.com/blog/diy-mixer-cover-sewing-machine-cover-too-free-sewing-pattern" target="_blank"> tutorial </a>from Sew Can She. I was able to get more of the fabric from my LQS. There were some difficulties with getting it done. I had some thread that kept constantly breaking as I was sewing it. This project I am very happy to have finished and I am hoping it is a good start to 2021.<br /></p>Dresden Quilterhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14271910749619198419noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8012524790682959020.post-89277755470261434972021-01-04T15:24:00.002-05:002021-01-04T15:24:47.491-05:00One Word - 2021<p style="text-align: center;"><img alt="Balance Word Art Vector Images (over 240)" class="rg_i Q4LuWd" data-lt="" data-src="https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR_obFGXFKEYhVnECwPksu4dHe5FPgWrwU5fg&usqp=CAU" height="320" src="https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR_obFGXFKEYhVnECwPksu4dHe5FPgWrwU5fg&usqp=CAU" width="304" /> </p><p style="text-align: center;"> </p><p style="text-align: left;">I have decided that my One Word for 2021 is going to be Balance.
