Pay It Forward

 I signed up last year for Terry's Pay It Forward. I received this gorgeous tablerunner and some fat quarters. I love the softness of the colours she chose and I am having a hard time deciding where I want to put it. It would look perfect in so many places in my home.

Now, I need 3 people to sign up for my Pay It Forward. I will make something and send it to you. Then you in turn will make something handmade for 3 other people, and so on. You have a year to make your gift, and you must have an active blog to participate in this Pay It Forward. Please leave a comment on this post if you wish to take part.

Design Wall Monday

My dh has been using my daughter's quilt a lot lately while watching tv. He likes it because it is a lap size rather than his twin size Double Irish chain. This could cause some tension, but luckily as a quilter, I am thrilled when someone wants a quilt. He really liked the one I made for my brother at Christmas, so I decided to make him one.

I have one more square to fill in and then I will be able sew the blocks together. It will be 48 x 60 when finished. His birthday and Father's Day are coming up so he will get it for one of those occasions. Check out what other people have made for Design Wall Monday!

Design Wall Monday

Last week I was reading Nicole's blog post about her Kitchen Sink quilt from Kim Brackett's Scrap Basket Surprises. When I looked at her blocks they reminded of some extra pieces I had left over from an "accident". I got them out this weekend and started to play with them.  My pieces are at a different angle and a different size but I love the pattern they are creating. I have Kim's book and there are so many quilts in there that I want to make. I am definitely going to be adding to this one and making a quilt out of it. Building Blocks

 

Here is my completed quilt top for my nephew. I had a lot of fun playing with my stash and coming up with different colour combinations. I just need to have it quilted and bound and it should be ready for Easter when i will get to see him. It was made using this pattern from Moda Bakeshop.

UFO #1

 

I have not yet talked about my UFO for this month. It is called Mountain Mystery and it is from a class I took 2 years ago. Part of the cost of the class involved starter fabric and it turned out to be fabric that I had none of and definitely not my usual colour scheme. It took me quite some time to pick my fabrics and I am still not quite sure of my final selection. I have previously posted about it here and here. On the weekend I got most of my half square triangles sewn together. I have a few more background squares still to cut out. Last night I started working on making some of the mountains.Both my dh and I were uncertain about it at first but it is definitely starting to grow on us which is good because I was planning on keeping it for myself. I really hope to have the top done by the end of March.

Red and White Log Cabin

 

I was reading Pickle Dish's blog post about red and white quilts and it reminded me of one I made for my aunt some years ago. I took a class with the Eleanor Burns Log Cabin Quilt in a Day pattern.  For the class itself, I bought pink and burgundy fabric to make myself a quilt because I would rather make a mistake on mine than someone else's. That quilt never got finished and resides in my quilting room as a UFO. I do love the versatility of the log cabin pattern and hope to finish mine one day.
