Blogger's Quilt Festival

Here is my quilt for the Blogger's Quilt Festival hosted by Amy. It is the latest quilt that I have finished. Tammy did the quilting for me.I have named it Red, White and Blue. It was made for some family friends who have a baby boy. The wife is American and the husband is Canadian. I liked the idea of combining the colours of the 2 countries into one quilt.

The quilt is special because it is one of the first quilts I started after I started my blog in March. Originally it was going to be a rail fence quilt, but then I found Amanda Jean's zigzag tutorial and decided to do that instead. Since then, I have used my fellow quilting bloggers for much inspiration. I have met many friends from all different countries and have been in awe of what people create. I have participated in 7 swaps, and am now working on my 8th swap. Many of my quilts have been altered or changed completely from all of the inspiration you have provided me. It was also one of the first quilts where I used most of the fabric from my stash. This quilt is a reminder of all the friendship, support and help I have been given.

Thank you all!

Great colors...it's wonderful how many quilts are made for special gifts...what friendship... and I appreciate what you have shared about the learning and inspiration that comes through seeing the work of others. It's really true...generousity aplenty in blog pictures and tutorials..isn't this quilt show fun? Glad you are a part of it.

What a pretty quilt and very patriotic. Isn't it a great feeling when you can make a quilt using mostly stash fabric? I like the zig-zag pattern. I may have to try it too. Cheers!

Great quilt and the sentiment behind it! I was drawn to the name of your blog as I've just started to work on my very first Dresden plates for Christmas gifts this year for each of my 4 kids.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!!

First off I love zigzag quilts and you did such a great job on yours. I currently have one sitting in pieces on my cutting table and hopefully I'll be able to get to it soon. Your quilt is inspiring me to finish :)

I agree the quilt blogging world is packed full of inspiring people. It is so nice to find another fellow Canadian quilt blogger :)

Your red, white, and blue quilt is wonderful, and perfect for a "mixed" couple and their little boy. They must love it.

Thanks you for the kind comment on my blog. You are now eligible to win my giveaway of two pieces of hand-painted fabric.

Do come back and visit again. I, too, love this blogging world and getting to know other quilters around the world.

Zig zags are fun. I did a quilt with a zig zag and stuff in the middle of each one and it was so fun. Yours is amazing. Love the colors.

I love your zigzag quilt. The colour combo is just great. As a Canadian, sometimes I feel sad that red, white and blue are considered american only. They really do look nice together.
