I got started working on my Jacob's Ladder quilt this weekend. I like the look I am getting. I am not sure how big it is going to be because originally the fabric was meant for another project. That will be a part of the fun. Check out what others are doing at Patchwork Times.

The Creative Peaks
Well, as usual it has happened to me again. I go for a while without quilting too much, then get back into a project and wham, all the ideas come to me for my other projects. I find the creative process so fascinating with its valleys and peaks, especially when the peaks come and there is not enough time to climb all of them. That is why this blog is great. It keeps me on track and helps me remember my ideas when I have time to get back to them.
I now have all of my presents completed for my Flurry quilt.
My border fabric for my red/aqua quilt came yesterday so now I can put it on and have my August UFO finished. Another thing I find so fascinating is the mail system. It only took 9 days to get here from California. Sometimes it takes that long for things sent in Canada to reach me.
My son's Halloween quilt needs to be worked on as well. I finished up his sister's last year. Now it's his turn.
I also finally committed to what I am making for my nephew. Last year I changed fabric with my nephew and brother so that I could get a quilt done for my brother by Christmas.I was not really enjoying the pattern I had picked out for my brother. I tried out a different one for my nephew in EQ6 and I really like how it turned out.
I also have to start thinking about my guild's quilt show next year and I am going to be teaching at my LQS so I need to work on that too.
Let me know how you are doing and how you manage with the peaks of creativity.

Flurry of Activity
Yesterday, was a flurry of activity for me, including working on my Flurry quilt. Two years ago, I made Christmas gifts for a Christmas block swap and when I saw the Flurry pattern by Kate Spain I had to make it. I bought the Christmas Candy fabric to make this quilt. I also added in some Michael Miller's Funky Christmas that I won 2 summers ago. As well, I finally found a great spot for the snowmen fabric that my friend Ariane had given me earlier this year. This is the first project I have made this year using fabric that I bought this year. Everything else has been my UFO's or fabric from my stash. I have to say I felt like a kid in a Christmas Candy store getting to make it and there is enough fabric left over for my daughter. I can't wait to get it finished.

Design Wall Monday
I now have all the secondary squares done for my Kitty Kitty quilt by Cozy Quilt Designs. I am still playing around with a couple of ideas for it, and then I will be able to sew all the blocks together. I did get my red/aqua put together ; I am waiting to get the border fabric for it. The other project I have been working on is my July UFO which involves trimming a lot of half square triangles. I will be happy when that just is done. Design Wall Monday
I am getting back into the swing of quilting again. I chose to do less this summer and spend more time with my family. The extended vacation has really got me motivated again to get back to quilting.
This is my UFO for August. It was a Disappearing 9 patch swap hosted by Jane in the fall of 2009. I loved all the blocks I got back, but was not sure if I was going to love them all together. Now that I have the blocks sewn I really like it. I think this is going to be a keeper for myself. I found some fabric on sale that I think will look really nice as a border. I need to sew them into rows now. Check and see what others are working on at Judy's Patchwork Times.
