I spent my Friday Night Sew In cutting fabric and starting to sew the flying geese for the border of my son’s quilt. I got 20 out of the 160 needed done. Hopefully chain piecing will help this go quickly.

My eyes are seeing stars. I am getting closer to having the I Wish I May quilt finished for my son. Since this photo was taken I have completed the quilt top and am now working on the borders. It would be wonderful to have this done by Christmas.
I used my Friday Night Sew In to iron, trim and remove the paper from my half square triangles. They were the last squares I needed to complete before I can start putting together the quilt for my son. I am thrilled to have reached this point. It has been a long time working on this quilt and I think it deserves a finish soon.
I spent my Friday Night Sew In working on the flying geese and half square triangles for my Botanical Park quilt. I also decided that it was time to get working on the sashing for my son’s quilt. I had been using them as leaders and enders but it was time to get them finished so I could move on with the quilt. I didn’t get them all done but I am much further along.
I finished the zigzag quilt for my sister’s friend three weeks ago. I am so fortunate to have had my daughter help me with the design and placement of fabrics. The zigzag design is one of my favourites. Once I got going it went together quickly but it was a slow start. My sister told me that it was a big hit at the baby shower which made me very happy.

My daughter is making me a quilt and she worked on it today. It is a similar pattern to one that she made a few years ago for herself. Most of the fabric came from a LQS who hosts a Christmas in July usually each year. They have bins of fabrics that you can stuff into bags and these fabrics came from ones that my daughter picked out from those bins. It is great to watch her progress and increased aptitude with quilting. I really like her design eye. She got most of the blocks done today. She is going to lay it out next and see if I want it bigger. I am looking forward to getting to cuddle under this, hopefully soon.
I spent my Friday Night Sew In putting on and starting to hand sew the binding for my Churn Dash and Stars quilt. It has been a long term, work on it when I need a break from another quilt, quilt. I am happy that now it is coming to fruition.
I spent my Friday Night Sew In sewing the rows together for the middle section of my Botanica Park.
I also with the help of my daughter organized fabric for a baby quilt that my sister has asked me to make for her friend. It has been a while since I have made a baby quilt. They are always fun to make.
I have now reached the point where I can start sewing my rows together. I laid out the quilt earlier in the month and realized I did not like the layout. I ended up changing the layout which also meant changing some of the sashing as well. I got the blocks sewn together and yesterday for Friday Night Sew In I got the sashings sewn into rows. The finish line is getting closer and that makes me happy!
I spent my Friday Night Sew In finishing up the last of my sashing for my Rainbow Irish Chain quilt and now I am able to start laying it out so I can decide where I want everything to go.
I bought backing fabric for this last week so hopefully, by the next Friday Night Sew In I will have most of it together.
I spent my Friday Night Sew In organizing my Rainbow Irish Chain Squares and sashing, as well as finishing one of the last blocks I need before I can start sewing it all together. I now only have a blue block left to do. I am not sure why, but sometimes quilts speak loudly to me and this one is tell me it is time to get it finished this year. It was a Leaders and Enders project but now it is time to bring it front and center.
I am so thrilled that the Pinwheels and Rails quilt is finished. It is a bed size quilt for my daughter. She looked at some patterns and then designed this quilt. She decided to have the border of the pinwheels go the opposite way of the rail fences so that it mimicked a rail fence quilt which I really liked. She made the decisions on all of the borders. The outer border fabric was bought at our quilt guild. Someone was selling off metres of fabric and my daughter picked it out a few years ago. I was having a tough time deciding on the fabric for the last border and then she remembered this fabric and it fit perfectly. Our cats really like this quilt and have claimed it as theirs which my daughter does not mind since they share it with her!

One of my first projects for 2021 was completed on the weekend. My mother asked me to make her a cover for her Kitchenaid stand mixer. She wanted the same fabric that I had used as the backing for the tablerunner I had made for her in the Spring. I used a tutorial from Sew Can She. I was able to get more of the fabric from my LQS. There were some difficulties with getting it done. I had some thread that kept constantly breaking as I was sewing it. This project I am very happy to have finished and I am hoping it is a good start to 2021.
I have decided that my One Word for 2021 is going to be Balance. I know that this is going to be a difficult word for this year, and I have no expectations that the teeter-totter of life will be balanced everyday but I do want to be more aware of how much time I focus on things and other people versus focusing on things that will enable me to be better with my family, my work and my creative endeavours.
