WIP Wednesday - Twisting

Twister

I always seem to quilt better when I have something to watch. I have taken out the Pillars of the Earth DVD set from the library and have been enjoying it. I started working again on my daughter's Twister quilt. I have learned from experience not to leave a project too long or the possibility exists of me losing pieces. My daughter saw me working on it last night and told me that she really liked it. She asked me who it was for, and I said, it's for you. She told me that she really liked it, even it was not for her, but the really like it part was in hope that it was for her. She is so sweet! Pillow Fight

Eye Bee Pillowcase

My son and I got the pillowcase finished. He did most of the sewing. I love, love how it turned out. He gave it to his Cub Scout leader last night, and it was obvious that the man was very touched by the gift. My son was involved with the whole process and it was wonderful to see how patient he was, and how interested in learning. Thanks to him I have a Friday Finish!  Linking up with TGIFF, Finish it Up Friday and Can I Get a Whoop Whoop.

WIP Wednesday - Pillowcase

I would love to say like mother, like son, but I find my children are much more talented than me. My son's Cub leader is leaving for another pack, and my son decided he wanted to make something as a going away gift. We decided on a pillowcase ; great to have on those camping trips. His leader is also a beekeeper and we found some wonderful bee fabric at our LQS.  My son then picked out the rest of the fabric and we started making the pillowcase last night. It is looking fabulous and my son hinted that he may make me one for my upcoming birthday.

For the wonderful long weekend here in Canada, I took some time to do some quilting. I got the blocks all sewn together for my Bright Stripes quilt and started sewing the rows together.

I really love this quilt and can't wait to have it finished. Linking up to The Needle and Thread Network.

Design Wall Monday - Bright Stripes

I started laying out my Bright Stripes quilt on the weekend. It is so much fun, and it makes me so happy to look at it. I am not sure why I did not make it sooner. Check out what others have on their design walls at Patchwork Times.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day! My husband and children spoiled me today. My son decided yesterday that he wanted to buy me fabric so we went to one of our favourite quilts stores. I got to pick out some fabric and then my husband paid for it. When I got it today, I had a surprise. They had also picked out a fat quarter bundle and some thread without me knowing.

The best part of today was being with them. They are wonderful and loving and kind.

P.S. The winner of my giveaway is Angela D. It was wonderful to read and hear about all your dreams. I hope they come true!

Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day

Hello everyone, and welcome to my Sew Mama Sew Giveaway! My name is Michelle aka Dresden Quilter. I have been quilting for over 20 years. I also have been knitting, and crocheting for longer. A few years ago I learned how to do red work and I love that as well.  Last year, I learned how to knit socks and I have grown a bit of an addiction to them. Yarn and fabric stores are both my favourites and can both be quite expensive! The people I love are my muses. I love to make things for the ones I care about. Presently, I am working on a pair of socks for my sister, a redwork table runner for myself, a quilt for my daughter, and a baby quilt for a friend.

For my giveaway I am giving away this charm pack of 42 squares of Dream On.

To enter, all you need to do is answer this question : If you could realize one dream, what would it be?

My dream would be to own a Janome Horizon, and more simply for people to be nicer to each other.

The winner will be chosen randomly and you must have a way for me to contact you. I am happy to ship internationally, from the beautiful country called Canada! I will leave the giveaway open until May 10 at 8:00 PM Eastern DST. Good luck with this and the other giveaways at Sew Mama Sew!

Bright Stripes

I have had this quilt kit for years, and it never seemed the right time to make it. I have some baby quilts that need to be made, and now seemed like the right time to finally do it. I had my own Friday night sew-in and started the cutting for it.

I used Thangles for the triangles. The sewing for them went very fast and I am looking forward to putting it together on my design wall. I did not do any rotary cutting last night as I have learned Saturdays can be very exciting for hockey fans ; especially Leafs fans now that they are in the playoffs.
