Storm The Castle - Conquered!

Storm the Castle

I have finally conquered Storm The Castle! It was finished for Family Day Weekend and a wonderful time to give it to my nephew. He and I pieced it together last March Break. We started with the pattern from Crazy Mom Quilts, and when we realized we did not have enough of the background fabric we redesigned it. After my nephew received it, he spent a great deal of time, telling his grandmother (my mom) every bit of the quilting process. He remembered all of it!

I love this Castle Peep fabric. I had originally bought it for my son and now I need to make one of these quilts for him. Linking it up to Finish it Friday at Crazy Mom Quilts, TGIFF and Can I Get a Whoop, Whoop!

Softie Socks

Here are the completed pair of my first socks for my daughter. The first sock I ripped out because I did not like the pattern. This free pattern by Spud & Chloƫ went much faster and easier. I love the subtle variegation of the pink yarn.My daughter loves them and has worn them quite a bit already. I am already on a second pair for her.

WIP Wednesday - Socks

These socks are becoming addictive. I started this one Sunday night as Easter socks for my daughter. It has been fun to watch all the stripes come out and quite different from what I imagined based on the yarn. She wanted the cuff to be longer this time so I added 2 inches to it. Better than ...

A box of chocolates!

This was the lovely gift my dh gave me for Valentine's Day. I was hoping to get 10 binding clips so I was absolutely thrilled when I got the box of 50. They came in really handy this weekend as I was binding a quilt.

I also found this great fabric at my LQS this weekend for only $5.00 a metre. I was trying to find some backing fabric for my Christmas swap quilt and this will be perfect for it. The quilt has many colours in it other than the traditional red and green, so when I saw this fabric I knew it was the one!

I am so happy to have it done. It is so special to me and I will love it for years to come. A special thank you to Darlene of Quilting Daze for getting me started. The pattern is by Paula Stoddard of Pacific Patchwork.

On The Needles - Socks

Kid's socks

I finished up the second sock and liked the pattern so much better that I ended up ribbing up the first sock I had made. Progress has been coming along pretty quickly and I love having a portable project with me. I think I will make this style of sock for myself next. Check out what others have On The Needles at Patchwork Times.
